When the water is cold and the bite is stubborn, this rattling VIB is one of the first baits we reach for. It hums and clicks and drags reaction strikes out of fish that don’t want to feed.
A compact, fish-shaped body carries an internal chamber of steel rattle balls that click loudly underwater, with a tight high-frequency vibration on the retrieve and a flutter on the sink. It rides head-down on the retrieve, which keeps the hooks riding up and away from the rocks. Finished with short-shank, smooth-coated trebles for solid penetration.
Why it’s a daily driver
Internal rattle chamber — steel balls click loudly to call fish from a distance.
Head-down retrieve — the hooks ride up, cutting snags on rocky bottoms.
High-frequency vibration — a tight, fast wobble that triggers reaction strikes.
Short-shank smooth-coated trebles — drive home and hold.
Full-depth sink — fish it from just under the surface to the bottom.
How to work it
Tie direct with a Palomar or improved clinch knot.
Best year-round — especially cold water when fish are sluggish.
Retrieve let it sink to depth, then wind steady or work stop-and-go; pause to flutter — strikes on the fall.
Work rock piles, submerged structure, points, channel edges, deep flats, and bait balls.
